CPD joins the world in celebrating Menstrual Hygiene Day (MH Day), which is observed annually on May 28th. It is a global platform dedicated to breaking the silence and raising awareness about the importance of good menstrual hygiene management (MHM). The 2024 theme, #PeriodFriendlyWorld, emphasizes creating an environment where menstruation is no longer a barrier to education, health, and overall well-being.

CPD joins the global effort on Increasing Awareness and Reducing Stigma: By fostering an open conversations and providing accurate information on menstrual Hygiene management (MHM).

Improving Access to Menstrual Products: To enhance access to the menstrual hygiene products, CPD has undertaken awareness creation and distribution of dignity kits targeting 6,350 women and adolescent girls from vulnerable Households living in the IDP camps in Adaado, Galkayo, Hobyo and Kaxda. The purpose of the dignity kits was to promote protection, physical and psychosocial well-being, mobility, and hygiene for women and girls at risk while providing a key entry point for understanding risks facing women and girls in the IDP and host communities. CPD Enhanced Education and Knowledge by equipping the beneficiaries with the knowledge to manage their menstrual health effectively and debunk common myths and misconceptions.

CPD has also invested in creating an enabling environment for the safe management of Menstrual menstruation through the provision of #WASH facilities such as access to water and construction of 445 sanitation facilities that are safe for all users, culturally appropriate, new lockable, flood-proof, gender-segregated, and accessible to persons with disability.

By celebrating Menstrual Hygiene Day with a focus on creating a #PeriodFriendlyWorld, we can collectively work towards a future where menstruation is not a barrier but a normal, healthy part of life.
