Governance and Stabilization
Our Approach
CPD views accountable governance as the cornerstone of Somalia's sustainable peace, development, and state legitimacy. We work to restore public trust, enhance stability, and create an enabling environment for progress contributing directly to Somalia's National Stabilization Strategy and NDP-9.
How We Work
- Inclusive Institution Building: Facilitate formation of local governments and federal member states through community consultations and participatory processes.
- Policy & Legal Reform: Shape legal frameworks by providing technical inputs and supporting parliamentary legislation.
- Capacity Strengthening: Deliver tailored training for government staff and rehabilitate government offices with essential infrastructure.
- Civic Engagement & Accountability: Bridge the gap between citizens and government through civic education and technology-driven accountability tools.
- Electoral & Justice Support: Promote democratic participation, advocate for women’s inclusion, and strengthen justice institutions.
Where We Work
- Somalia: Galmudug, Hirshabelle, Jubbaland, and South West States supporting the formation of functional local governments and federal member states through inclusive, participatory processes. Instrumental in forming district councils in Hobyo, Adado, Warsheikh, and Galkayo, and the founding of Galmudug State (2015).
Our Goal
Build legitimate, inclusive, and accountable governance structures that unlock service delivery, uphold the rule of law, and restore public trust.
