Up to 30,000 people (21,000 people in Galkayo and 9000 in Hobyo districts) will be provided with clean water until November 30, 2018.

Twenty chlorinators (14 in Galkayo district and 6 in Hobyo district) have already been trained on water chlorination and free residual testing methods.

The aim of the training was to make the trainees understand the key principles of water chlorination, apply these principles practically in the field, perform the basic calculations required to support effective drinking water chlorination and also understand how to store and handle chlorine safely.

IDPs in the two districts also benefited from the construction of 140 latrines in Galkacyo and 60 in Hobyo.

On the same note, training of 74 hygiene  promoters (52 in Galkacyo and 22 in Hobyo district) has been completed.

The project is supported by Unicef Somalia.
